Short Version: One of my favorite songs of all time from this versatile Austin group.
Long Version: It was the Middle East in 2003 when fellow musical bum Token handed me a burned copy of "Source Tags and Codes" by a group with the coolest name I have heard in awhile. I put it into my top secret computer and would listen to it during daily briefings. For some reason I kept coming back to this song. I liked the lyrics, I liked the drumming, I liked the ferocity a the end, I liked the guitar drone in the forefront. I liked the song I guess. I like it enough that I can still get down to it and crank it. That to me defines a top song of all time. When you never tire of it. This entire cd is classic, but they have had quite a few releases since then. Not one of the cds has been as good overall, but there have been other epic songs such as, "Bells of Creation" and "Will You Smile Again for Me?" I have seen these guys three times live and each time has been a powerful experience. None more so than their last show of their tour in Dallas a few years ago. I flew to see them because I had the fear that they would only play in arenas after that club circuit tour. Luckily/Sadly they haven't, but they did go on to destroy all their instruments and spray beer everywhere. Sounds frat boyish, but after an evening with friends singing words to all your songs, it felt like a nice way to finish off the stretch.
