Long Version: The thing about the Memorial and Labor Day holidays in America is that a lot of folks hit the road to go somewhere else. A normal weekend might not be long enough, but 3 days opens up your world to a potential 7-10 hour trip. I took a 5 hour trip to the back waters of Tennessee and on the way to and fro I got a chance to listen to the new My Morning Jacket release, "Circuital." To give a little background, the members from MMJ hail my state of Kentucky. They formed in 1998 and have grown in popularity over the years. "Circuital" will be their sixth studio release.
I have been a fan of theirs for over ten years and have enjoyed the magnetic experience of seeing them live on five different occasions in five different states. They are known for their vivacious and powerful live shows. "The Day is Coming" is the first song I heard and my favorite so far. I am having a hard time describing this song, except that it simply grabs me. It feels right. It feels right for right now in this season and in my life.
