Long Version: Destroyer is a group fronted by Dan Bejar of The New Pornographers. Without the glam-fusion video you could close your eyes and picture being in a shotty Howard Johnson lounge outside of Kansas City circa 1988 and hearing this tune coming from the European guy with a synth and a few woodwinds. It would be depressing and you would make fun of the guy internally, until you realized that you were in his midst and no where else. But since it is 1) 2011 and 2) this song is made by a respected member of the indie community with a 3) bats&*t music video to go with it, it can be seen as a championed and promoted effort. I personally liked the song the first time I heard it. If my nightmare's come true and I am living in Florida in my 80's I will put this on while driving my pontoon around Orlando Beach at sunset. It will be relaxing and a reminder of the good ole days when drugs were still illegal and teleportation was just a sci-fi readers's wet dream.
