Red Fang "Wires"
Short Version: Stoner Rock for the new dawning.
Long Version: One of my college roommates, the Old Man, forwarded this choice song to me last week. The selection is your typical stoner rock track. Not too fast and aggressive, but still in the rock/metal family. Red Fang is a stoner rock band from Portland Oregon and the video they put together made me an instant fan. The band made other videos that are on youtube if you want to see more of their creativity in action. If your car is a P.O.S. or if you are driving through the Southwest United States this music might just be your perfect soundtrack. Not the best for a sunny July weekday, but the video couldn't wait any longer for your consumption. This video chosen after being suggested by a reader. If you have any song suggestions please forward my way. I love hearing what other people are enjoying.
Concert Review: Soundgarden and Mars Volta played last Tuesday in Fairfax Va. It was a good crowd with about 8,000 loud and loyal fans. I got there for Mars Volta's early set and unfortunately they did not 'bring it.' They did quite the opposite. I have seen them now twice opening for bands in big arenas and it is not their strong suit. They ended with their stellar song "Goliath" but they slowed it down and didn't do any screaming at all like it normally has in the track. They also berated the crowd for not moving. Fans always love that. Soundgarden started strong. They played for 2.5 hours. The highlights were "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage." They were having fun on stage and sounded crisp. Everyone walked away pleased.
